State of Studio, the dual residency 💫

A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of attending the 2024 Global Takeoff Summit, organised to get top-tier studios and institutional investors in one room. Full of unique perspectives, it was great to see old friends and new alike.

When asked to present Builders to this audience, for just 6 minutes, I knew it was important to stress what makes Builders unique. Why us, why now…

Dual Residency

There are 3 things that clearly differentiate us from the pack, but the main thing that stands out is our relentless pursuit to build with the right co-founders and empower them. With both business and technical founders as residents of the studio, we’re slowly starting to move into a creative and business melting pot and we’ve dubbed it… the Dual Residency.

In this dual residency, battle-tested/validated ideas and tech deep dives go hand in hand. This is at the core what makes a great company, true partners that take ownership, have skin in the game and focus on solving the hard problems with bangs, not soft strokes.

• Investor House. Another great gathering this time at VONQ, with warmup pitches by Estefania and Alisher, and an in-depth fireside chat with Tycho van Paassen, founder of VONQ.
